1. January 2017: Speeding and parking issues

“What you told us”

You have told local Police Officers that you are concerned about speeding in the areas of Fellgate and Hedworth and in particular Durham Drive. Concerns have also been raised in relation to parking issues in and around the metro station.

“What are we doing about it?”

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting high visibility patrols in the area and utilising the speed awareness equipment in order to educate drivers and raise awareness of speed with a view to reduce speeding in the area.

Communities are actively encouraged to share information with local officers,
regarding the identities of offenders, or details of the motor vehicles.
All information is treated in confidence and action will be taken wherever possible.

The neighbourhood team have liaised with Nexus and the local authority to explore car parking options to try and ensure commuters and residents have adequate parking provision that is legal and safe.

"Keeping you informed”

The Neighbourhood Policing Team will keep the community updated through Partners and Communities Together meetings (PACT) and the Community Area Forum (CAF).

2. January 2017 – ASB Primrose Estate

“What you told us”

There has been an increase in Anti-social behaviour (ASB) from youths in the Primrose area of Jarrow. In particular youths throwing eggs at properties and generally causing a nuisance.

“What are we doing about it?”

Your Jarrow Neighbourhood Policing Team have continued to deal appropriately with any ASB issues and have sought the assistance of partner organisations to target housing and residential issues imposing varying restrictions on offending families. The use of the Local Authorities ASB unit has offered a wider range of powers to deal with each issue and joint visits have been conducted. Sergeant Angela Lewis has discussed options with local authority youth services who already have youth drop in provision most nights of the week - youths will be encouraged to attend to spend their time more constructively.
I addition further positive action was taken with increased high visibility patrols and alcohol and searches were taken at every opportunity.
