Police are appealing for information after a collision in South Shields.

At about 2.30pm, Monday, January 24, police received a report of a collision on Prince Edward Road.

Between 12.30pm and 1pm, an 82-year-old woman was crossing the road where she is believed to have collided with a white car. Unfortunately no further details of the car are known at this time.

The driver of the car got out of the vehicle to help the woman however, he left no contact information.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but police are now appealing for the driver or any witnesses to get in touch.
