Police are appealing for information after a University lecturer was targeted by burglars.

The incident happened at around 11.50pm on Monday, October 16, when an intruder has entered the property on Red Barns which is near to Newbridge Street towards the Newcastle Quayside.

When inside the property they stole a number of items including two iPhones, a tablet and an apple watch.

Those responsible also stole an external Western Digital Hard Drive which contained 10 years of work carried out in the owner's capacity as a senior lecturer.

Enquiries to trace those responsible are ongoing but officers have now made a plea for those responsible to return the items to their owner.

Detective Constable Jane Campey said: "We are carrying out a number of checks to try and identify those responsible for this burglary.

"A number of items have been stolen but the hard drive taken by the offenders is invaluable to the victim in this case.

"It holds no value to the offenders but contains hundreds of documents that are vitally important to the lecturer.

"She is willing to offer a substantial reward to anyone who can help have this device returned to her so if you have information please do get in touch.

"The victim is absolutely devastated by what has happened and we want to do everything we can to see these stolen goods returned."

If you can help with the investigation, or have information about those responsible, then please email 1302@northumbria.pnn.police.uk or call 101 ext 62536 quoting log 1454 16/10/17.
