Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act on police taser use from January 1, 2010 to the present day.

How many incidents have been recorded where your force has used a taser gun (i.e. barbs deployed or the taser was pressed against a
person and arched) against a person without that person being charged by police with an offence?

For each incident, could you list:

  1. When and where the incident happened

  2. How many times the Taser was fired

  3. The reasons why the Taser was used (i.e man believed to be threatening the public with a gun)

  4. How many injuries were suffered (if any) and the nature of the injuries suffered

  5. Who was injured (i.e. 29-year-old man)

Note - My request is referring to injuries which required medical attention and were sustained from the barbs or from any resulting falls.
