Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 8 January 2013 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

  1. The number of call outs Northumbria Police have attended after reports of people threatening to jump/actually jumping off Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland during 2012, 2011 and 2010  

  2. The actual - or estimated - financial cost to Northumbria Police of attending one of these call outs.  

  3. The number of people who have died as a result of falling from the Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland during the past three years (breakdown into 2010, 2011, 2012).

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Communications Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

2. No information held. I can inform you that the amount of money spent in relation to officers performing individual tasks is not quantified by Northumbria Police  Time taken to attend any incident is part of an officers normal working hours and is not costed or recorded separately.
