Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 26 December 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
The number of Northumbria Police Airwave radio losses in each of the last 5 calendar years (including 2012 if possible).
The cost of lost Northumbria Police Airwave radio equipment in each of the last 5 calendar years (including 2012 if possible).
Any Northumbria Police policy documentation relating to the loss/security of Airwave radio equipment.
In this request please interpret "Airwave radio" as any device capable of transmitting/receiving across the TETRA Airwave radio system, as provided by Airwave Solutions Limited.
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the ICT Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
1 & 2 As the information you have requested at this point is partly accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.
I have provided an explanation to this exemption below.
Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means
Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information.
Similar information has been requested in the past and is published on the Disclosure Log on the Northumbria Police website, FOI 806/10 refers.
With regards to the remaining two years data which is not included in the published request, see below.

We have no record of the value of these items at the time of loss. Terminals were not purchased to replace those lost as adequate spares were purchased during the initial procurement.
I can advise however that the costs of this equipment based on the actual price paid back in 2007 is £320 per handset
