Provision of informati11 held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated  13 March 2015 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

 1.       The number of sick days taken by serving police personnel employed by Northumbria Constabulary .  By police personnel I mean both police officers and police staff 
2.       The figure as a percentage of the total number of days worked. 
3.      The rank/job title of police personnel involved. 
4.      Reasons for sickness, if given. 
Please provide figures for the three most recent financial years.   

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the HR Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

2012/13 - 45515 days 
2013/14 - 39022 days 
2014/15 - 45876 days

2. No information held.  We do not hold data in % nor are we obliged to create as such in order to answer an FOI request.  Additionally we are unable to provide the raw data at this point as to do so would exceed the permitted time limits.  This is because officers and staff have regular changes is shift patterns which would impact on the number of working days, and there is no easy way to extract this data.
