Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 23 March 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

I would like to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act regarding payments to the following officers:

  1. I would like to request the corporate credit card expenditure for the Chief Constable for the years 2008/9, 2009/10 and 20010/11.

  2. I would like to request the corporate credit card expenditure for the Deputy Chief Constable for the years 2008/9, 2009/10 and 20010/11.

Please Note: I realise chief officers' expenses for travel, accommodation and subsistence incurred in the course of their duties may already have been published. 

I would like to check specifically the details of any expenditure on corporate credit cards whether it is covered in those figures or not, including where the money was spent, with whom where that applies and why it was spent, ie the nature of the duties being undertaken at that time.

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Finance Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.

There has been no expenditure for the Chief Constable or Deputy Chief Constable by Corporate Credit Card for the periods specified by your request.

Chief officers' expenses for travel, accommodation and subsistence incurred in the course of their duties is published on the Northumbria Police Force website, in order to aid and assist you further I have provided a link to the relevant page below:-

You may be interested to know that Northumbria Police routinely publish information that has been disclosed by Northumbria Police in response to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 via the Disclosure Log.  The aim of the Disclosure Log is to promote openness and transparency by voluntarily placing information into the public arena.
