Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act') 

Thank you for your e mail dated 12 January 2017 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police. 

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes, on school premises between 1st September 2013 and 1st September 2014?

i) Within this, how many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

ii) How many of these alleged sex offences (including breakdown) involved a perpetrator aged 18 and under?

iii) How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises involving technology - eg. sexting, online harassment and abuse, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

2. How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes, on school premises between 1st September 2014 and 1st September 2015?

i) Within this, how many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

ii) How many of these alleged sex offences (including breakdown) involved a perpetrator aged 18 and under?

iii) How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises involving technology - eg. sexting, online harassment and abuse, where the victim was aged 18 and under? 

3. How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes, on school premises between 1st September 2015 and 1st September 2016?

i) Within this, how many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

ii) How many of these alleged sex offences (including breakdown) involved a perpetrator aged 18 and under?

iii) How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises involving technology - eg. sexting, online harassment and abuse, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

4. How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes, on school premises between 2nd September 2016 and and 31st December 2016?

i) Within this, how many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises, where the victim was aged 18 and under?

ii) How many of these alleged sex offences (including breakdown) involved a perpetrator aged 18 and under?

iii) How many alleged sex offences (including breakdown) have been recorded as crimes on school premises involving technology - eg. sexting, online harassment and abuse, where the victim was aged 18 and under? 

You then clarified that where you referred to 'case breakdown' - you mean -  the number of alleged offences  broken down into offence type - such as 'rape', 'sexual assault' and so on 

 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows, however the below should be noted. 

Regarding Question iii there is no specific Home Office code for sexting  so we are unable to provide.

Malicious communications are not recordable offences (ie not a crime)  and are not classed as sexual offences so we are unable to provide a response to those parts.

With the above in mind please see the below attached which offers a response to the remainder of this request.
