Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 16th July  2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

  1. How many incidents of number plate theft were recorded within the force area during the current year (Calendar or financial - whichever may be most easily available) and details of their location (to street level if possible)

  2. Comparable figures to those requested above, for as many of the previous five years as they may be available.

  3. Details of the types and number of occurrences of any crimes in which a stolen numberplate was used (eg. theft of petrol) for the current year and previous five years (should the information be held).

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
