Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 20 November 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

Please release the following information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act -
How many children aged under 16 have been arrested for possession of illegal drugs in Sunderland?
Please provide information for the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.
Please break up the statistics for each year into age groups

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the  Sunderland  Area Command of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

There  have been no arrests for possession of illegal drugs recorded for persons under the age of 12 from  2008 -2012 

 2012 figures are from 1st January 2012 to 27th November 2012 inclusive
