Provision of informati11 held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 21 January 2015 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

 
Please could you provide a breakdown of all crimes reported in 2014 that were reported to have taken place in the location of a care home.

Please breakdown the statistics by:
(a) Type of crime (e.g. violent crime, financial abuse, sexual abuse etc.)
(b) Whether police made any arrest(s) in response to the report/allegation (i.e. "yes" or "no").

I would be grateful if you could provide the information in an Excel spreadsheet, or a Google Doc spreadsheet.

I appreciate that, in some cases, a crime may be recorded but the exact location (or category of location) may not be included on the records. However, this FOI request concerns only those crimes that are specifically recorded to have happened at the location of a care home.
This request should cover all reports received in 2014, including historic allegations.
My understanding is that when crime reports are logged on the system they usually have 'tags' attached to them, including a location tag. So this request is just any which have been tagged up as a care home. So this could, I suppose, be in or outside a care home - just any where it has been tagged as such. 

If you don't use a location tag that is specifically called 'care home', then anything along the lines of nursing home/ home for the elderly and/or disabled is fine.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

 Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows. 

Due to the different methods of recording information across 43 forces, a specific response from one constabulary should not be seen as an indication of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another.  Systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  For this reason responses between forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.

The information we have supplied to you is likely to contain intellectual property rights of Northumbria Police.  Your use of the information must be strictly in accordance with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) or such other applicable legislation.  In particular, you must not re-use this information for any commercial purpose.


How to complain
