Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 13 May  2013 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

  1. The  number  of  crimes  of  burglary  and  robbery  where the location is recorded as being either  a  newsagent  shop,  supermarket,  mini  market,  shop or a general dealers between April 1st, 2012, and March 31st, 2013.

  2. The  total  amount  of  cash or cash value of goods stolen from the above locations  during  the  above  period, where a cash value or value of goods stolen has been listed.

  3. The  number  of  crimes  of  burglary  and  robbery  where the location is recorded as being either  a  newsagent  shop,  supermarket,  mini  market,  shop or a general dealers April 1st, 2011, and March 31st, 2012.

  4. The  total  amount  of  cash or cash value of goods stolen from the above locations  during  the  above  period, where a cash value or value of goods stolen has been listed.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

Please note that the values provided in our response are as recorded within the Force system. At the time of an incident, where the value of an item stolen is not known, a nominal value of £1.00 is entered onto the Force recording system. This should be given full consideration should you choose to reproduce this information.
