Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 26 January 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

For Northumberland Area Command for the period January 2007 to the most recent data please supply figures for ASB crimes and incidents broken down by:-

Disability
Sexual Orientation
Race
Religion and Belief

of both offenders and perpetrators.

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.
I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

Please note that the results contained within this FOI are based on the perception of the victim for either a crime or incident.

Crimes results are based on the number of incidents where the initial creation is in relation to ASB then subsequently crimed
and marked with one of the listed hate crime markers ie, Homophobic, Transphobic, Disability, Faith, Racist or Other

Incident results are based on the number of incidents where the initial creation is in relation to ASB and subsequently closed with a code which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by one of the listed prejudices
ie, Racial, Religion, Transgender, Sexual Orientation, or Disability.

This information is up to the date this request was received, 26th January 2012.
