Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
Thank you for your e mail dated 2 August 2016 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
1. In the last two and a half calendar years, how many force control room staff have been:
i) Given a written or verbal warning
ii) Suspended from employment
iii) Dismissed from employment
iv) Were subject to other disciplinary proceedings not mentioned above (please state).
Please break down by calendar year for 2014, 2015, and 2016 (Jan-June).
This request relates to all staff working in the force control room - including management.
2. For each case where an employee was suspended or dismissed [see ii) and iii) in the previous question] please provide the reason why. For example, repeated absences, failure to follow instructions, etc.
3. At the time of collating this request, how many vacancies are there at your force control room?
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Professional Standards and the HR Departments of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

The information provided has been extracted from a ‘live’ database and may be subject to the addition and deletion of complaints, conduct matters and subjects after the initial extraction of data used for the purposes of this report.
Data has been checked for allegations finalised between 01/01/14 to 30/06/16 for complaint and conduct matters recorded against police officers and police staff working in the control room.
The below table includes Police Officer and Police Staff, it shows the outcome of disciplinary procedures where there was a case to answer against the officer or staff member following an investigation into the complaint or conduct matter. The year column indicates the date the disciplinary proceeding took place.

3. Northumbria Police currently have 15.56 police staff vacancies within our control room. Please note that recruitment is currently ongoing to fill these vacancies.
Due to the different methods of recording information across 43 forces, a specific response from one constabulary should not be seen as an indication of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another. Systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data. For this reason responses between forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.
