Provision of informati11 held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 16 April 2015 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
1) Since 2002 or the earliest date possible, how many police officers or police staff members have been required to resign or have been dismissed from post for misconduct matters?
2) What were the misconduct proceedings reference to?
3) Out of those officers or staff members listed from above, how many were successful in appeal and were re instated into the force?
4) Can any answers to the above be dated?
5) Since 2002, or the earliest date possible, how many police staff members, including PCSO's, and Detention Officers have been arrested?
6) The nature of the allegation for each person and date?
7) Following their arrest, was there any criminal charges brought against the person, i.e. charge, caution, NFA?
8) What was the outcome of the criminal matter if it was taken to court?
9) Following their arrest and any court appearance, was there any misconduct proceedings and at what level, i.e. Misconduct or Gross Misconduct?
10) Following the misconduct proceedings, if any, what was the outcome, i.e. management advise, Superintendants warning prior to new standards of behaviour being introduced, written warning, final written warning, resigned, required to resign?
To clarify if this can be progressed for the last five years that would be appreciated
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Profeassional Standards Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
The information provided has been extracted from the a ‘live’ database and may be subject to the addition and deletion of complaints, complainants and subjects after the initial extraction of data used for the purposes of this request. Ongoing cases have not been included.
1) We can advise that officers would not be required to resign. The table below shows the number of police officers and staff members who have been dismissed for misconduct matters since 2010.
