Northumbria’s approach to ASB
Dealing with ASB is one of the police and crime objectives of the newly published Police and Crime Plan by Northumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird.
All victims of ASB will be listened to and taken seriously by Northumbria Police.
Officers will be discreet in their contact with people reporting ASB and will respect their wishes if they do not want officers to attend their home.
Call takers taking the public's calls will ensure officers know how the caller wants to be contacted.
This will be followed up by neighbourhood officers who will look at the whole situation before deciding what action to take. This could include house to house enquiries, taking statements, working in partnership with other agencies and investigating the crime.
All the information collected can be used to help build up a picture of what is happening and could be used as evidence.
